India Geospatial Forum 2014

Association of Geospatial Industries (AGI) participated in the premier geospatial event ‘India Geospatial Forum 2014’ (IGF 2014) held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad.

With the objective of continuing to strengthen the links between geospatial and national progress, AGI was engaged with the India Geospatial Forum at multiple levels of forum activities. AGI engagements included:

  • Awards: Co-host of the India Geospatial Awards 2014
  • Conference: Participation in different presentations and panel discussion sessions
  • Exhibition: AGI Booth

The forum, organised by Geospatial Media & Communications, was well received by over 1100 delegates joining from the length and breadth of the nation as well as globally. AGI was a part of the well structured forum, spanning over three full days of activities, covering many plenary sessions, symposia, technical sessions, a well spread exhibition showcasing the latest trends and developments in the Geospatial Technologies and an Awards program recognising excellence and leadership in the geospatial sector.

Awards Ceremony:

AGI co-hosted the India Geospatial Awards 2014 with an objective to recognise excellence and encourage innovations by geospatial technology developers, professionals and policy makers in order to foster growth in the geospatial sector in India. India Geospatial Awards this year conferred Geospatial Leadership Awards and Certificates of Excellence for application of geospatial technology in different domains and areas of operation.

Other than the excellence awards in different technology application areas, Geospatial India Forum honoured a distinguished list of people with India Geospatial Leadership Awards.

The awardees are:

  • Geospatial Company of the Year: Secon Pvt. Ltd
  • Capacity Development: The Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University
  • Geospatial Business Leader: Kaushik Chakraborty, Regional President-India, Hexagon Geosystems
  • Making a Difference: Dr. M P Narayanan, Chairman, Geospatial Media and Communication
  • Life Time Achievement: Dr. B V R Mohan Reddy, Chairman of Infotech Ltd.

Bharti Sinha, Executive Director of AGI was invited as a member of the high-profile selection committee of the Awards.


While India Geospatial Forum 2014 was focused on the theme ‘Converging Geospatial Trade and Practices’, AGI was invited to participate in the exclusive symposia on GEOLAND and GEOENERGY. Taking forward its mandate to promote the usage of geospatial technologies across sectors, AGI joined the deliberations in these symposia creating strong drives for effective geospatial usage, by putting forth the need for geospatial strategy for development as well as directions for geospatial industry.
